The World Rally Championship gets exciting!
This weekend marks the Rally of Finland, probably the most exciting event in years. Since Sebastien Loeb began accumulating titles, the last seven seasons, never had much work to beat the BF Ford team drivers. This year, the British prime asset is Mikko Hirvonen, who seems to have definitely tuned in his Ford Focus WRC.
So far this season, except in the demanding Rally of Greece, has been on the podium at every race. The Finn also has a theoretical advantage, besides the point that separates the general classification, few foreigners have won there. Last year also came in first and paid a disadvantage that this entails, in the end, Loeb took 9 seconds.
Loeb, in 2008, has been among the few non-Finns to win there, no one had ever done since Didier Auriol in 1992. In addition, French is used to start from bad positions in general, but this year seems no longer to account over the best car.
In the “Rally of the Thousand Lakes”, however what counts is to have nerves of steel. The WRC does not stop jumping on dirt tracks and mud. With tall trees flanking the road at all times, it is imperative to have a perfect knowledge of the plot to snatch second. Continue Reading »
