Farewell to Luis Federico Thompson, a boxing legend

Luis Federico ThompsonHe died today aged 82 after a long illness, the Panamanian Argentine nationalized after fighting with Gatica and love of our country and South American champion Argentina. On October 6, 1962 Thompson wins the South American welterweight title against Jorge Peralta, at Luna Park

At 82, victim of a long illness, Luis Federico Thompson died today at Liberty Hospital in Merlo, where he was interned. His remains were cremated today at the cemetery of Morón.

Thompson’s story, a legend in fists of steel, took an important turn with the emergence of the 50 and visited Argentina for the first time. In 1948 he made his professional debut in Panama and won the lightweight title against Wilfredo Brewster in 1951. His career did not offer great alternatives at that time until the opportunity arose to travel to Buenos Aires to fight with José María Gatica at Luna Park.Desde then left nothing to our country.
